Nolan’s Used Drum Parts & Accessories, circa 2012
2012
A young man’s obsession with the beauty of drums, built on passion, craftsmanship, and a love for the instrument.
Born in a small apartment behind a hotel in rural Michigan, a young man’s need for extra income met his relentless obsession with the craft of drumming. With little more than a handful of tools and endless curiosity, I opened my first eBay store, “Nolan’s Used Drum Parts and Accessories.”
2014
Better workshop, better tools, more experience
As time progressed, I eventually moved to a better space, an actual dedicated bedroom for all my tools and parts. Here, I finally had a proper workbench to reskin hand drums, perform deeper structural repairs, and pursue my craft. Gone was the lengthy business name, shortened simply to “Nolan’s Used Drums”.
2015
The YouTube channel is born!
Even though I had a few “product spotlight” videos before 2015, this is when I truly consider my YouTube channel as alive and conscious. No more advertising, it was now a record of my projects, personality, and epic, epic failures.
2017
Music Degree and New Workshop!
A big year brought even bigger changes. I completed my music degree with a lecture on the history of the drum set—a highlight of my academic career. I never imagined I could earn a grade doing something I truly loved. With my degree in hand, I moved once again to a new location, this time with a spacious, well-equipped workshop that opened the door to even more ambitious and creative projects.
2020
Nudrums goes live on Instagram!
After years of thinking it over, I finally took the plunge into short-form, more accessible, social media-focused content. Much to my relief, it’s been far less stressful and time-consuming than producing YouTube videos. It has since become the main way I share day-to-day updates.

Nudrums Pettersen is born!
After moving back to Norway in 2020, I officially registered Nudrums as a business. This allowed me to expand into the school and municipal sectors, teaching brass bands, school bands, and private students. It also marked the launch of my second, Norway-based teaching channel, Nudrums Trommeundervisning.
2024 – present
New workshop, the business expands…
Now established in Bergen, Norway, the business continues to thrive as a small, local drum boutique and workshop, dedicated to providing high-quality, professional drum services to everyday drummers and students.
